Pain that has not yet come is avoidable.

Pain that has not yet come is avoidable.

This quote is not just a quote. If this would be an electoral ballot, it could easily represent one out of few political ideas we vote for. It  serves to open a conversation about change impacts, including our emotional resistance to change. Globaly, we all face intensive changes every day. Work environment, business standards, communication norms, health situation, sports, economy. The way we dress. The way we celebrate. The way we travel. The way our kids learn. The way we hug. If we hug, at all, these days.  Name it. Everything has changed lately.

One is for sure. Change affects us all. However, we each deal with change differently. Great opportunity or great catastrophe? No matter the change we experience, minor or major, the fact is that changes in our life are not going to stop. Social scientists say that the rate of change is increasing exponentially. We all can witnes this trend. Change is what is, and there is no way to change that, obviously. What can be changed, though,  is the way we deal with it, and the way we choose to be changed by change. Knowing that the pace of change is only going to increase, we all have options to choose. With all this in mind I made my decision. I choose to beleive that the pain that has not yet come is avoidable. Maybe it’s naive. Maybe I am gullable. Still, it makes me feel powerful. Powerful to make my own decisions, taking full responsibility for their impact. As long as it makes me feel good, I am fine with it. How about your way? What do you do to keep yourself feeling good these days?
