Engagement Drivers

Engagement Drivers

Why engagement matters for training and coaching professionals? Because our job is to encourage others to change with courage. Career development doesn’t “travel“ alone while catalyzing changes within people performance and organizational culture. A conductor is nothing without the talents and engagement of an orchestra. Business trainer can’t do much without personal engagement and without clarity that everything is possible when we have trust in the process of transformation.

We nurture self-esteem in others and make them feel strong and capable, making sure that when our trainees win, our joint engagement wins. Would it be possible without trainer’s 100%? I hear you saying “Yup, right, but what to do when participants are passive or even openly aggressive in their resistance to share their thoughts, dilemmas, ideas, opinions during exercises, sitting still for hours?”

Well, my dear training colleagues and friends, it sounds as a perfect opportunity to expand our creativity, practice assertiveness, listening carefully and providing sincere feedback to each and every training participant. And, yes, let’s do it right. Why on Earth we shall keep doing trainings if we stop practicing what we preach. If we start losing our passion to explore ourselves, if we are not ready to expand our professional points of view, maybe it is time to admit that our career passion faded away, transforming our professional love into yet another daily routine.

Here are only few, out of many recommendations that we, business trainers, use in our regular work, no matter of topic, no matter of participant’s seniority or industry:

You make your people feel like co-owners, not hired hands. You build teams with spirit and cohesion; teams that have a true sense of community. Your company has a plan to involve staff in making decisions, and develop collaborative goals and cooperative relationships.

This won’t be possible without professional, skilled and experienced trainers and our full engagement. Therefore, let’s encourage our business clients and training participants to get started with their own engagement journey. Starting from clarity, continuing with consensus building and heading to changes, let’s help them learn how to recognize their own engagement drivers, in order to maximize their professional performance. If we are determined to do training, if we are still madly in love with our beautiful job, let’s do it with our 100%!
